About David Lowe
Suffolk Web Designer, SEO Specialist and Small Business Consultant
Web Design, Done Differently
I am David Lowe, a Suffolk website designer, SEO specialist and small-business consultant. Working from my home office in Hadleigh, I can visit your business to properly understand what you do and what makes it different.
My personal, business-focused approach offers something different: websites that accurately represent you and follow Google’s latest guidance, helping build trust, improve visibility and deliver clear results.
ABOUT
I have never been particularly good at doing something simply because that is the way it is usually done.
I have been designing and improving websites since 2016, but I have never been interested in simply producing attractive pages. A website can look excellent and still achieve very little for the business behind it.
My role is to understand a business properly, identify what makes it worth choosing and communicate that through professional writing, thoughtful design and carefully planned SEO.
Sometimes that means creating the first professional website for a well-established company. Sometimes it involves turning years of specialist knowledge into useful content that people can finally find and understand.
On other occasions, it means improving an existing website or wider online presence that no longer reflects the quality of the business.
Whatever the starting point, I want the finished work to be something the client and I can both be proud of: a website that reflects the quality of the business, is clearly understood by search engines and gives potential customers the confidence and reason to get in touch.
Experience beyond website design
My approach has been shaped by a career extending well beyond websites and SEO.
My experience includes engineering, technology, product development, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, administration, education, business ownership, quality management, health and safety, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
I have designed products, sourced specialist components, worked closely with manufacturers and suppliers, improved production systems and developed customer relationships. I ran a specialist product-based business, with responsibility for everything from purchasing and product development to e-commerce and customer service.
Alongside my independent website and SEO work, I spend three days a week as Compliance, QC and H&S Manager for Cotherm UK.
Although these roles are quite different, they rely on many of the same strengths: research, accuracy, problem-solving, clear communication and close attention to detail. You can find a broader overview of my professional background and experience on my LinkedIn profile.
It may seem like an unusual background for a website designer, but I believe it is one of my greatest strengths.
It allows me to work confidently with businesses where understanding the subject properly matters, including engineering companies, manufacturers, skilled trades and specialist service providers, without relying on generic marketing language.
It means I naturally look beyond appearance and consider whether something works, makes sense and communicates accurate, properly supported information.
I continually ask whether a customer will understand it and whether there is a clearer or more effective way to achieve the intended result.
I want to understand what I am working with
I enjoy getting under the skin of a business.
Whether you manufacture a product, provide a skilled trade or deliver a specialist service, I want to understand what you do well, why it matters and the problems you solve.
That is why I am happy to visit. Seeing your people, products, machinery, premises or working environment often reveals strengths that a questionnaire or telephone conversation would miss.
I do not want to invent a fake version of your company. I want to identify what is genuinely good about it and help the right people see it.
This means asking questions, investigating opportunities and sometimes challenging assumptions. I may suggest a different approach, or advise that an additional service or expense is unnecessary.
I am commercially minded and consider whether the likely benefit justifies the cost. I would rather give honest advice and find the most effective solution than recommend something simply because it costs more.

Experience supported by results
In my compliance role, I have helped achieve and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BEAB certification. Our three most recent external ISO audits produced no nonconformities, observations or opportunities for improvement.
Results like these depend on accurate information, careful preparation and prevention-focused systems that work in practice, not documents created simply for an auditor.
I bring the same discipline to websites and SEO. My work has helped specialist businesses gain prominent search positions, attract relevant visitors and generate genuine enquiries. This includes an engineering company achieving leading US rankings for specialist products and local businesses becoming more visible across the areas they serve.
One recently launched local website reached leading positions for several important searches and generated 15 enquiries and 7 sales in its first month.
No website result can be guaranteed, and every market is different. However, these examples show what is possible when a good business is supported by thorough research, accurate information, useful content and a properly planned website.
Research with a purpose
Research is one of my greatest strengths and an essential part of how I work.
I investigate the business, its products or services, customers, competitors and wider industry. For specialist companies, this may mean learning technical terminology, understanding complex products and identifying what matters most to potential customers.
I also examine what people search for, the questions they need answered and where opportunities exist. Competitor research is not about copying. It helps reveal what works, what is missing and how the business could provide something more useful.
As search technology and recognised best practice evolve, I follow current Google guidance and reliable evidence rather than outdated techniques or repeated assumptions.
The aim is not to outsmart Google, but to give people and search engines accurate, helpful and well-organised information.
Combined with business knowledge, useful content and sound technical foundations, good research gives a website a much stronger chance of being found. I have seen new pages indexed within hours, appear in relevant searches within days and contribute to enquiries within weeks.
That speed cannot be promised, but thorough research provides something more dependable than guesswork: a clear reason behind every important decision.
I enjoy difficult challenges
Some of my most satisfying projects are not straightforward.
The subject may be technically complex, the market highly competitive or the business unsure how to explain what makes it different. It may need its first professional website, or have an existing one that looks acceptable but fails to reflect the knowledge, experience and effort behind the business.
I enjoy working through these challenges. I research, test, compare and reconsider rather than assume the first answer is correct. I am persistent when I see a worthwhile opportunity and do not like leaving a problem unresolved.
When absorbed in solving something, I often work late to maintain momentum. I notice missing information, unsupported claims and pages that do not quite flow, and find it difficult to settle for “good enough” when a worthwhile improvement remains.
I gain far more satisfaction from helping a good business grow than simply launching another attractive website.
Is your online presence doing your business justice?
You may be starting from scratch, relying mainly on social media or using a website that no longer reflects the business you have built.
I enjoy finding out what makes a business worth choosing and turning that knowledge, experience and reputation into an online presence that helps the right people understand it.
For me, this work is about much more than producing websites. It is about solving problems, finding opportunities and representing a quality business in a way that does justice to the people and effort behind it.
A personal service from Hadleigh, Suffolk
Most of my work is completed from my rural office on the outskirts of Hadleigh, conveniently located between Ipswich and Sudbury and less than 30 minutes from Colchester.
Clients are welcome to visit for a relaxed, no-pressure conversation about their business and goals. We can also speak by telephone, meet online or, when helpful, I can visit your premises.
Let’s talk about your business
If your business is better than its current website suggests, or you have the experience, knowledge and reputation but no strong website at all, let’s have a conversation.
You do not need a finished plan. Tell me what the business does, where you want it to go and what you would like the website to achieve. I will help you identify the most useful next step.
