Help Your Existing Website Work Harder

For businesses, clubs and organisations whose websites are underperforming, I prepare practical improvements that help the right people find you, understand what you offer and take the next step.

You receive researched, professionally written content and detailed instructions for you or your web designer to add to your existing website. You keep control of the site, with support for the planning and writing that can be difficult to tackle alone.

Request a Website Review

Start With What You Want to Achieve

Before recommending changes, we discuss what you want your website to achieve: more enquiries or sales, new members, clearer service information or a stronger presence in your market.

We consider what is working, what feels outdated and where visitors may struggle. I also ask who manages the website and what its platform allows, so the recommendations are practical to implement.

This can suit a self-built website that looks good but attracts little interest, an established site that needs updating, or an organisation wanting specific additions such as service pages, articles or guides.

Based near Hadleigh, between Ipswich and Sudbury, I can meet locally or visit your premises to understand your work. Projects further afield can be managed remotely.

Together, we agree the priorities, scope and budget, whether you need help with one important page or a wider improvement plan.

I Take Care of the Heavy Lifting

You do not need to research keywords, plan pages or write polished copy. I handle the analysis, research, structure and writing, turning the findings into material you can use.

A few conversations are usually enough to get started. I ask questions and take notes; scribbled details about your services, some background and pointers towards competitors are useful. Photographs and examples of your work help too.

I develop the recommendations and content, checking facts and agreeing the direction with you at key stages. You receive finished wording and clear instructions, with the most important changes identified so you know where to begin.

Built Around Your Market and Customers

I review your website, industry, competitors and the questions potential customers or members ask. Where access is available, search and visitor data help show how people currently find and use your site.

The review considers content, navigation, mobile usability, enquiry routes and technical issues that may need attention. It also identifies missing or outdated information.

Modern semantic SEO shapes the recommendations: explaining your services clearly, answering related questions and connecting useful pages. For local businesses, that includes making your service area clear and checking consistency with your online profiles.

What Your Project Can Include

This service has become increasingly popular with owners of self-built websites who are happy making changes themselves but need help with research, content and SEO. Getting a website online is one step; helping it attract the right visitors and generate enquiries takes further work.

Why a good-looking website isn’t always a good business website →

Depending on your goals and the agreed scope:

  • A prioritised website, competitor and market review.
  • Finished copy for existing pages or useful new additions.
  • Page layouts, H1–H3 heading labels and suggested font sizes.
  • Page titles, meta descriptions and URL recommendations.
  • Internal links, suggested link text and calls to action.
  • Image guidance, filenames and appropriate alternative text.
  • Relevant schema markup and instructions for adding it.
  • Researched blog posts, articles, comparisons and guides.
  • Google Business Profile, social content and directory guidance.
  • Recommendations for tracking visits and enquiries.

Each page’s material is organised so whoever adds it can see what belongs where. Technical issues requiring your website provider’s attention are identified separately.

You may need a single addition or a wider set of improvements. We agree what is included before work begins.

How the Process Works

1. Understanding Your Business

We begin with a conversation about your business, customers, important services and what you want the website to achieve.

I will also need to understand what you can change, who manages the website and whether there are any restrictions imposed by its platform.

2. Researching the Website and Market

I review the existing website and research relevant competitors, customer searches and current search results.

Where access is available, information from Google Search Console and Google Analytics can help show how people currently find and use the website.

3. Preparing the Improvements

I develop the recommended structure, page content, metadata, internal links, Schema Markup and supporting instructions included within the agreed scope.

Recommendations are prioritised so you can concentrate on the most important changes first.

4. Implementation

You can make the changes yourself or send the material to the person who manages your website.

If questions arise during implementation, I can clarify the recommendations or help resolve uncertainties within the agreed work.

Ready for You or Your Web Designer to Add

You receive the copy, supporting material and implementation instructions to add yourself or pass to your existing web designer. I can clarify the recommendations as part of the agreed work.

This lets you keep your current platform and provider, and can help manage costs if you are comfortable making the changes yourself. Responsibility for editing and maintaining the website stays with you or your chosen provider.

For Duda websites, I may also carry out agreed changes directly.

If the review reveals platform or structural limitations that make improvements poor value, I will explain the options before you commit to further work.

Supporting Your Wider Online Presence

Your website, business profiles and directory listings should give people a consistent picture of what you offer.

For eligible businesses, support can include Google Business Profile setup or improvements and posts linking to useful website pages. We can also consider LinkedIn, other relevant social platforms, and suitable local or industry directories.

I can prepare content, handle agreed profile work or guide you through the parts you prefer to manage. Each element is chosen around your audience and budget.

Publishing, ongoing support and responsibility for messages and enquiries are agreed separately.

What Are the Benefits?

Keep Control and Manage Costs

You can continue managing the website yourself or using your existing provider. You only pay for the research, content and professional guidance you need.

Receive Work You Can Use

The service can include finished page copy, headings, metadata, links and schema, not simply a list of problems.

Make Changes in a Sensible Order

Recommendations are prioritised so you know which improvements deserve attention first.

Give Customers Clearer Information

Better structure and content help visitors understand what you offer, why they should trust you and what to do next.

Build a Stronger Foundation for SEO

SEO is not one isolated adjustment. Website structure, useful content, internal links, metadata and wider business information need to support one another.

Avoid Unnecessary Work

Research can reveal which parts of the website should be retained, which need improving and which are no longer serving a useful purpose.

What If the Existing Website Is Holding the Business Back?

Sometimes an existing website can be improved successfully. In other cases, its structure, platform or original build creates too many restrictions.

If the research shows that improving the current website would be poor value, I will explain why.

You can then decide whether to continue with selected improvements or discuss a new website. Much of the research, planning and written content may still be useful for the replacement, so the initial work does not necessarily go to waste.

The decision remains yours.
